Is-sinjal għal BUS STOP għandu żewġ partijiet. (i) Fl-ewwel parti jsir is-sinjal għall-kmand IEQAF! Dan isir billi id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 magħluq bil-pala tħares ’il barra livell mal-għonq. Kultant l-id tagħti skoss żgħir ’l quddiem. (ii) Għat-tieni parti jsir is-sinjal għal XARABANK b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ V mgħawġa bil-pala tal-id tħares laġenba. L-id tinżel ftit ’l isfel, qisha qed tiġbed iċ-cinga għall-passiġġiera weqfin fix-xarabank.
Ħafna persuni Deaf igħidu li l-forma tal-id m’għandhiex tkun dik ta’ V mgħawġa għax inkella tkun qed tagħmel is-sinjal għal TOJLIT. Fir-realtà nsibu din il-forma użata għal XARABANK ukoll meta ma jkunx hemm kuntest ambigwu.
The sign for BUS STOP is made up of two parts. (i) The first part is sign for the command STOP! This is made with one hand that takes the shape of closed 5 with the palm facing outwards at neck level. The hand often makes a sudden small push forward. (ii) The second part is the sign for BUS. This is made with one hand in the shape of a clawed V with palm facing sideways. The hand moves down a little as though pulling the strap used by standing passengers in the bus.
Many Maltese Deaf claim that the handshape should never be that for clawed V since that would be the sign for TOILET. However, in reality we find this handshape often used for BUS when there is no chance of ambiguity.
